Well hello there,
I’ve been fiddling around with the idea of a video segment to this here blog for a while now. Having produced a very silly introduction video a few weeks ago which, quite frankly, I was not too impressed with – I found myself shoving that dream onto the back-burner in a hurry and instead staring at my computer screen for a few weeks hoping that inspiration would give me a smack across the face. (Hoorah. So productive.)
Lo and behold. I have decided not to over-think it (a God-awful habit of mine), just freaking post something, and see what happens.
My skillzzz (yes, with a “z”) are completely lacking (production-wise) but since I love themed parties (and Halloween, in particular) I thought I’d start just off with a simple idea – and hopefully I will receive only constructive crit. (Who am I kidding? – Trolls! On your mark…)
I would be eternally grateful if you could “like” my video if you think I should do more stuff like this and/or subscribe to my channel if you’d like to be notified every time I post something. 🙂
Drop me a comment and let a gal know what you think.
PS: Kind of a fitting post for a channel launch – seeing as it is my 100th post! 😀
Hey, hello, hi.
Ever since my little-kid days, my time has been filled with a great love for animation. (Thus – my animation degree. Imagine that?) Many of those days were sat in front of the tv, watching my favourite yellow family, The Simpsons. Always one of the most incredibly scripted shows, with the most memorable and entertaining cast. I can even remember carrying around a little vinyl Simpsons suitcase filled with all of my favourite cassettes. (One of them being The Simpsons Sing The Blues album – anyone remember Do the Bartman?)
Bart and the gang were a huge part of 90s pop culture, and have continued to be internationally adored to this day. I may be getting older, but somehow I keep getting drawn back in to Springfield. (I now work at Fox – Need I say more?)
So when I bagged a wonderful invitation to the launch of the new Simpsons Converse range, I did a little jig. If you know me well (or even if you’ve only seen me twice in your life) you’ll know how much I love my Converse sneakers. I love them. Like L.O.V.E them.
The launch was awesome (with a kick-ass refreshment table) but the highlight was definitely the new footwear range. With three different designs to choose from, my pocket cried a little. I need all three. I NEED them.
Ay Caramba. I need.
They are available from today across South Africa at selected Cross trainer, Stuttafords, and Shesha stores. Sizes range from child to adult and prices range from R699.95 to R1199.95.
Thanks to Converse for the invite (and the goody bag) and congrats on the rad launch!
Insert nerdy photo of me enjoying myself here:
Apologies for the lack of promised updates…
Unfortunately, the mix of rainy walks and (I guess?) public transport germs, made a wonderful mess of my system. Ie: A horrible bout of the holiday flu.
A very belated Joyeux Noel to you all! (And a happy 2014!)
Here’s a quick pic journal of the last few days of my Christmas adventuring:
Christmas Day had me panting my way up the Eiffel Tower for a terribly over-priced baguette. (Only over-priced because the very rude woman behind the counter mistook my €20 for a €10 and refused to give me my correct change! – I was SO unimpressed.) Otherwise, the view was frosty but absolutely gorgeous! The tip top part of Montmartre was home to our Christmas dinner, a round of caricature portraits, and a rainy walk through the red-light district! (Oo-er.)
Back in the UK, a plate of the most amazing curry ever was waiting for us at Shakespeare’s Head pub in Holborn. – Along with a pint of cider. (Yes please!) Then, we took in some sights and gave ourselves up to some retail therapy.
Our final day was all about the gorgeous Moreish Cafe in Russell Square. Fresh, wholesome, home-baked food of major awesomeness. I wish we had found this place on day 1! HIGHLY recommended. Then we had to say goodbye to the wonderful Generator Hostel- which had fulfilled so many levels of radness- and took our final tune trip to Heathrow. (Where the duty free shopping commenced.)
10 Days of running around, gasping, eating, crying, laughing, coughing, and making memories. What a trip.
I’ve been here for two days and you have been a very unusual place indeed. The English Channel- What a horror. The Eiffel Tower, a sparkling diamond. Your metro, scary as hell. Your Latin quarter restaurants, so much of yummy. And your buildings and museums, c’est magnifique! Merry Christmas eve everyone! Joyeux Noel for tomorrow!
Hi again London,
Today I braved the cold for a day of market browsing and churro-munching in Camden. (Where, among other weird things, a very naked 1 Direction can actually be found printed on a tshirt.) I also completely lost my adult composure at platform 9 and 3/4. Completely. It was like I was 11 again.
Day well spent? I think so.
Hi there London.
2nd day of being in your lovely presence, and I have to say, you are quite delightful.
Even though today was wet and our umbrellas flung themselves inside out, we managed to cover a lot of ground. Shakespeare’s globe had us calling each other smelly mountain goats the whole day, then we appreciated the modern art of Tate’s. (Though some of it I didn’t quite “get”. – See below)
Now we’re off to see some more Christmas lights!
I’m off to Europe with my best friend tomorrow to spend Christmas in London and Paris. If that ain’t the best freaking stocking-filler ever, I don’t know what is.
I’m especially excited for the following:
– Big-ass Christmas lights all over the place making me feel all festive and shit.
– Overseas quality time with my BFF. – Which is something we’ve been planning all our 18 year friendship.
– Shopping. Primark. Selfridges. Primark. Urban Outfitters. Primark. (I NEED a Christmas sweater.) – And Camden Town. YES YES YES.
– Meeting new people. Yes! This will be fun. Or dangerous. If you don’t hear from me in 10 days – please contact the South African Embassy.
– Doing whatever the hell I want for 10 days. Even if it means posing next to platform nine and three quarters like a complete tool, or talking like Ringo Starr the whole holiday.
– And Museums!! Oh, the culture and knowledge I will absorb!
If wifi serves me well – I’ll be posting a pic each day to send a little Christmas cheer to whomever takes the time to read my ramblings. (I see you readers. I know you exist.)
So without further ado – let me return to my packing, lest I forget something important! (ie: My phone charger. Amirightpeople?)
Au revoir et bisous!
